The Pigeon Fancier began publication April of 1993 at about the same time that the venerable American Pigeon Journal (APJ) ceased publication. It started just a couple of months after the Pigeon Debut. Both magazines filling the void that the APJ left. They took different approaches in their publications with the Pigeon Debut resembling the style of the now defunct APJ, while the Pigeon Fancier took a different approach. The Fancier brought more sophisticated printing with with many photographs in full color, taken professionally. But even with the wonderful color photography and articles covering many countries in the world, the Fancier lasted less than three years. The last issue was December of 1995. Interestingly, the fancier never provided a full index of the articles provided in each issue, listing only a few of what they must have believed to be the premier articles. The indexes used here were made and shared by readers.
